Only five days left to nominate your human rights hero

Nominations are closing this Friday, 9 September for the Australian Human Rights Commission’s annual Human Rights Medals and Awards.
Commission President Catherine Branson QC said nominations will be open until 5pm Friday for the Medals and eight Award categories.
“This year is the 24th year that the Commission has honoured those in our community who have promoted and protected the human rights of others,” Ms Branson said.
“The Commission encourages people to actively consider nominating those they know whose dedication and commitment has made a real difference in promoting a fairer society.”
Ms Branson said nominations were open for the Human Rights Medal, the Young People’s Human Rights Medal, as well as the Community Award – Individual, Community Award – Organisation, Literature (non-fiction) Award, Radio, Television and Print Media Awards, and the new Business Award for a business with a proven track record in promoting and advancing human rights.
Nominations close on Friday 9 September for judging, with winners to be presented with their awards at a ceremony on Friday, 9 December 2011 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, in Phillip Street Sydney.
Tickets are also now on sale for the Human Rights Awards ceremony.
